Hexagram 59 — Dispersion (渙)
Pattern Snapshot
This work is offered as a tool for reflection.
If it has been useful, you may support its continued development.
This pattern appears when things are stuck together in the wrong way — tension, rigidity, fear, or fixed identity.
Dispersion dissolves what is clenched so the situation can move again.
The aim is not destruction. It is release.
Timing Lens
Dispersion is the moment when what has been contained must be allowed to spread.
This can look like letting go of an old plan, releasing pressure, changing atmosphere, clearing misunderstandings, or breaking up stagnation so energy can circulate. What matters is intention: dispersion for clarity, not chaos. When the bind loosens, the path reappears.
Great Taming holds power. Dispersion restores flow. Together they form a complete cycle.
Reflection
What is clenched that needs to loosen?
What would naturally move if pressure were removed?
What must remain centered while everything else spreads?
Closing
Release what binds — and let what is true reorganize itself.
